i suck at bios...

but here we are.

Born, raised and currently living in Brussels, Belgium this 30-something year old is finally living out his childhood dream.

Yeah, I know that that talking about myself in the 3rd person was weird, I'll stop now. I promise.

I'm just going to dump most of it at you in one go...

I was born with HIV in a time where it was still considered a death sentence, both by us regular folks and doctors. The doctors even my parents I wouldn't live to see the year 2000. In 1999, I'm diagnosed with cancer for the first time. The medical people around me called this The Beginning of The End. Spoiler alert: I survived.

On one of those frequent hospital stays, a nurse had brought in this big, old chunky Mac computer into my room. The morning after, I'd written 40-something pages of story. The story was bad, cause I was 7, but that experience, the opportunity and possibility that a blank page/screen has is something I've always carried with me since.

But, life happens. Traditional paths are offered & more accessible. Another cancer diagnosis later (you read that right), I blow out my 18th candle. Like most, I found myself living a life that felt very safe, boring, and not mine

Slowly, and mostly unconsciously, my life started to rearrange itself after my divorce.

You know that harajuku moment from books, television, and movies? The moment where something tragic happens to the protagonist so they decide to turn their life around? I had several of those tragic experiences, but they didn't trigger this big change for me.

The moment that was my harajuku moment was in August 2022, when I'd found my baby brother who had decided to step out of t/his life.

That event, added with consciously choosing who I surrounded myself with led to me finally writing (again). I even updated my Instagram bio, so...it's pretty official.

My favorite things to do are watch YouTube deep-dives on all kinds of stuff, (re-)watching shows & movies, reading, listening to music (Spotify Premium is one of my all-time favorite purchases) and of course telling stories, in whatever shape or form.

Though this is my author site, I'm also always working on storytelling for different kinds of media, mostly for the big & small screen. By the way, are you on Letterboxd?

So, here I am. And here you are.
Thank you.
